Lisa Dion is committed to helping young girls enter the world of community science with confidence and skill. After learning that Vermont was one of two states without a Girls Who code program, she established the state’s first chapter. Since then, every week she has provided programming lessons on Saturday mornings for girls from 6th to 12th grade. Since its founding, the program has expanded to include UVM coding students as educators, helping the young girls accomplish long-term projects like creating websites. Lisa’s work helps to close the gender gap in the field of STEM, making this valuable field accessible for all.
