Era MacDonald, Founder/Director of Merrymac Farm Sanctuary, has transformed the sanctuary from humble beginnings to a haven for over 150 abused and neglected animals. Each animal, from horses to ducks, has a sad history, but finds love and care under Era’s unwavering dedication. She knows each animal’s individual needs and provides tirelessly, even sleeping in the barn with sick animals. The sanctuary’s impact extends beyond the animals. Era fosters a welcoming community, organizing events for all ages including toddler story times and visits from local nursing homes. The sanctuary provides internships, research opportunities, and even receives donations from local grocery stores.
