Kelly Clarkson teamed up with Lainey Wilson for a duet version of Wilson’s latest single “Country’s Cool Again” for the “Kellyoke” segment of the March 5 episode of “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”
Wilson sang the first verse, leaving the second for Clarkson. The two then sang the chorus in perfect harmony: “Everybody wanna be a cowboy / Drive a jon boat, whip a John Deere / Everybody want a backwoods front porch / With a tub full of iced-down beer / Must be something in the water flowing out of the holler / Blue collar must’ve caught a new wind / Doggone, dadgum it, didn’t see that coming / Country’s cool again.”
“It’s an honor to sing with you. I’m so stoked for your whole career. I’m just such a big fan. She’s so rad,” Clarkson told Wilson after their performance.
“Country’s Cool Again,” which Wilson co-wrote with longtime collaborators Trannie Anderson, Dallas Wilson and Aslan Freeman, is from Wilson’s recently released album of the same name.
