MTV‘s flagship awards show, the MTV Video Music Awards, is set to return to New York this September to celebrate its 40th anniversary after holding the event at other venues since 2018.
The Video Music Awards, which debuted in 1984 at Radio City Music Hall, are scheduled to take place on September 10th this year at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York City. The UBS Arena, which opened in 2021, will be hosting the VMAs for the first time.
The Awards event took place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, in 2022 and 2023. It’s also recently been held in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
“We’re excited to bring this year’s VMAs to UBS Arena, one of the country’s newest and most cutting edge,” said Bruce Gillmer, President of Music, Music Talent, Programming & Events, Paramount and Chief Content Officer, Music, Paramount+. “Celebrating one of music’s biggest night with the incredible, robust New York area fans is something we’ve been looking forward to the moment last year’s show ended.”
