Jake Worthington released his new collaboration with Miranda Lambert, “Hello S—ty Day,” on Friday (September 27). The 28-year-old rising country star admitted that he had to work up “the gumption to ask” Lambert, a fellow Texan and one of his “musical heroes,” to join him in writing the new song together. The duo’s musical partnership –  alongside co-writers Dean Dillon, Jessie Jo Dillon, and Jesse Frasure – clearly paid off on the emotional new tune, which serves as a message of encouragement to anyone experiencing tough times.

“I know I’ve had ’em. Mornings and evenings that felt exactly how I believe that the song portrays, and I think a lot of folks have,” says Worthington. “People are going to have s—ty days. And I think that we see the connection between the listener and the artist based off of what their songs are, how much you can relate.” Lambert was pleased to take part in the song, with the country superstar saying of their collaboration, “I was really proud to hear that he wanted to cut this song for his project.” (People)
