CMT Giants tribute to Alabama took place at Belmont University’s Fisher Center for the Performing Arts in Nashville last winter. Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean, Little Big Town, and Luke Bryan all paid tribute to country legends during the performance, which was filmed for a future two-hour special CMT Giants episode that is finally set to air on August 15 at 8 p.m. ET. Additional performances from Old Dominion, Sam Hunt, and Jamey Johnson are also part of the show according to an announcement.
Alabama were on hand for the special evening honoring them, and the celebrated country group eventually took the stage during the concert. Lionel Richie, Martina McBride, Vince Gill, and boxer Evander Holyfield all shared stories – both in person and virtually – about singer Randy Owen, bass player Teddy Gentry, and guitarist Jeff Cook, who died at age 73 back in November of 2022 after a battle with Parkinson’s disease.
