In a recent interview with The Standard promoting her BBC Radio 6 Music and BBC Sounds series, “Courtney Love’s Women,” Courtney Love slammed Taylor Swift, saying “she’s not important” and “not interesting as an artist.”
“Taylor is not important,” Love said. “She might be a safe space for girls, and she’s probably the Madonna of now, but she’s not interesting as an artist.”
It’s not known why Love has a contrarian view about Swift now after having wished her a happy birthday in December 2021 via Facebook. She called Swift an “aspirational huge role model for many young women” at the time. The post also featured a photo of Love and her “occasional hair twin/neighbor.”
Courtney also spoke about Lana Del Rey and Madonna during the recent interview with The Standard.
“I haven’t liked Lana since she covered a John Denver song, and I think she should really take seven years off,” she said. “Up until ‘Take Me Home Country Roads’ I thought she was great. When I was recording my new album, I had to stop listening to her as she was influencing me too much.”
About Madonna, Love said, “I don’t like her and she doesn’t like me. I loved Desperately Seeking Susan, but for the city of New York as much as her.”
