Jelly Roll has delivered a powerful and passionate testimony before the Senate Committee on Fentanyl crisis.
At the hearing on Thursday, the Senate’s Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee examined legislative solutions and public education for preventing the smuggling of fentanyl into the country.
The rapper and country star, whose original name is Jason DeFord, urged the lawmakers to draft a strong law to tackle the major menace currently faced by the United States.
Speaking in favor of the bipartisan FEND Off Fentanyl Act, Jelly Roll said, “I truly believe in my heart that this bill will stop the supply and can help stop the supply of fentanyl. But in part of being proactive, gentlemen and women and ladies, I have to be frank and tell you all that if we don’t talk to the other side of Capitol Hill and stop the demand, we are going to spin our tires in the mud.”
Jelly Roll, who was once jailed for selling drugs, also addressed his criminal past, and expressed concern over the fact that his wife is a drug addict.
